Miami's Bats Are Hot, But the Mets Want Payback
The Marlins just crushed the Mets two games straight. Yesterday, Nick Hicks launched two home runs. The one in the right-center field sailed 389 feet. The other rocketed 356 feet to right. Miami won 4-1. The day before, Marlins hitter Caissie drove in a run with a single to center. The Mets scored just once across both games. Today, New York needs to lock in at the plate. The Mets' lineup has to match Miami's power or this road trip gets worse. Christian Scott takes the mound for New York. Tyler Phillips goes for the Marlins. Both teams need this win bad.
The Mets Are Banged Up and Looking for Spark
The Mets are limping into this game. Francisco Lindor, their star shortstop, is out with a calf strain. He won't return for about a month. Luis Robert Jr., the center fielder, has a back injury and isn't getting better. Francisco Alvarez, the catcher, just had knee surgery and is gone for eight weeks. Even second baseman Jorge Polanco is dealing with an Achilles issue. The good news? Kodai Senga, their ace pitcher, is throwing rehab starts. He could rejoin the rotation early next month. New York needs healthy arms and bats to climb out of this 22-30 hole.
Can the Mets Bounce Back at loanDepot park?
New York is down to their backup players because of all these injuries. Bo Bichette is playing shortstop. Brett Baty is at third base. Luis Torrens is catching. The Mets are 22-30 overall. Their road record matters today. Miami sits at 24-29 and just won two straight at home. The Marlins are clicking when it counts. If the Mets want to steal a game in Florida, their lineup needs to explode. Christian Scott will pitch his heart out. But the offense has to show up first.
