A New Generation Takes Over the NBA All-Star Game
The NBA has announced the 2026 All-Star Game starters, and this year’s list shows a clear shift in the league. Many of today’s biggest stars earned starting spots, while one famous name was left out. For the first time in more than 20 years, LeBron James was not voted in as an All-Star starter.
The starters were chosen using a mix of fan, player, and media votes, rewarding both popularity and on-court performance.
Western Conference Starters: Big Numbers, Big Impact
The Western Conference starters are led by Luka Dončić, who received more fan votes than any player in the league. Luka has been dominant this season, averaging over 33 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds per game. His ability to score and pass makes him one of the hardest players to stop.
He is joined by Stephen Curry, who is averaging about 27 points per game and continues to lead the league in three-point shooting.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has also earned a spot, scoring over 31 points per game while leading Oklahoma City to one of the best records in the West.
In the frontcourt, Nikola Jokić is once again filling the stat sheet with around 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists per game. Rising star and future face of the league, Victor Wembanyama rounds out the group, averaging over 24 points and 3 blocks per game.
Eastern Conference Starters: Power and Playmaking
In the Eastern Conference, Giannis Antetokounmpo led all East players in votes. Giannis is having another strong season, putting up about 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists per game.
He is joined by Jaylen Brown, who is scoring over 29 points per game, and Jalen Brunson, who is averaging more than 28 points and 6 assists as the leader of the Knicks.
Rising stars Cade Cunningham and Tyrese Maxey also earned starting spots. Maxey has been one of the league’s top scorers this year, averaging over 30 points per game.
Why LeBron Missed the Starting Lineup
LeBron James is still playing well, averaging around 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists per game. However, injuries and missed games during the voting period hurt his chances. Younger stars passed him in the voting, ending his streak of 21 straight All-Star starts.
LeBron can still be selected as an All-Star reserve, which will be announced soon.
What This Means for the NBA
The 2026 All-Star starters show how the NBA is changing. While legends like LeBron remain important, a new generation of stars is now leading the league. This year’s All-Star Game will highlight both the present and future of basketball.
