All-Star Weekend Status Update
Big Winners on Saturday Night
NBA All-Star Weekend has been full of exciting moments. Saturday night featured the biggest contests of the weekend.
In the 3-Point Contest, Damian Lillard showed everyone why he is one of the best shooters in the league. Lillard won the competition even though he is still recovering from a torn Achilles injury. His long-range shots were smooth and confident. Fans cheered as he knocked down rack after rack of deep three-pointers.
The Slam Dunk Contest brought the crowd to its feet. Keshad Johnson won the event with a high-flying windmill dunk that wowed the judges. Johnson soared through the air, spun the ball around in a full windmill motion, and slammed it home with power. It was one of the most exciting dunks of the night.
The Skills Challenge tested dribbling, passing, and shooting. Players raced through obstacle courses to show their all-around talent. Quick guards and skilled big men competed to prove who had the best complete game and Team Knicks featuring Karl Anthony-Towns won.
New All-Star Game Format
Tonight’s All-Star Game uses a brand-new format. Instead of one long game, there are three teams:
USA Stars includes young standouts like Anthony Edwards, Cade Cunningham, and Tyrese Maxey.
USA Stripes features veterans such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Jaylen Brown.
Team World is led by international superstars Luka Dončić, Nikola Jokić, and Victor Wembanyama.
The teams will play short 12-minute games in a round-robin tournament. The two best teams will advance to a championship game later in the night.
With big names and fresh rules, All-Star Sunday promises more highlight plays and unforgettable moments
