Bears Bulldoze Past Eagles 24-15 in Dominant Ground Game Performance
The Chicago Bears entered Philadelphia with an impressive 8-3 record, riding a four-game winning streak behind second-year quarterback Caleb Williams and their explosive offense. The Philadelphia Eagles, also 8-3, were looking to bounce back from their devastating collapse against Dallas the previous week. Both teams had playoff dreams on their minds, but only one would keep their momentum rolling.
First Quarter: Bears Strike First
Chicago wasted no time establishing their ground game dominance. The Bears methodically marched down the field on their opening drive, mixing runs from D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai with short passes from Williams. Swift capped off the impressive drive with a powerful 3-yard touchdown run, giving Chicago an early 7-0 lead. The Eagles struggled to find their rhythm offensively, managing only a few first downs before punting.
Second Quarter: Field Goals Keep It Close
Philadelphia finally got on the scoreboard with a 44-yard field goal by Jake Elliott, cutting the Bears' lead to 7-3. The Eagles' offense showed signs of life with a beautiful 30-yard completion from Jalen Hurts to DeVonta Smith, but they couldn't punch it into the end zone. Chicago answered right back with their own field goal, as Cairo Santos nailed a 30-yarder to extend the lead to 10-3 at halftime. Williams completed 17 of 36 passes but struggled with accuracy at times.
Third Quarter: Eagles Roar Back
The third quarter belonged to Philadelphia's explosive passing attack. After forcing a Chicago turnover when Kevin Byard intercepted Williams, the Eagles couldn't capitalize. However, they caught a break when Jalen Hunt picked off another Williams pass, setting up excellent field position. The Eagles finally broke through when Hurts connected with A.J. Brown on a spectacular 33-yard touchdown bomb, though Elliott missed the extra point, making it 10-9 Chicago.
Fourth Quarter: Bears Pull Away
Chicago's ground game took over in the final quarter. Kyle Monangai, the undrafted rookie sensation, bulldozed his way to a 4-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 17-9. The Bears' running attack was unstoppable, with Monangai finishing with 130 rushing yards on 22 carries and Swift adding 125 yards on 18 carries. Cole Kmet then hauled in a beautiful 28-yard touchdown pass from Williams to make it 24-9.
Philadelphia fought back desperately in the final minutes. A.J. Brown was magnificent, catching 10 passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns, including a 4-yard scoring strike from Hurts with just over three minutes remaining. The Eagles attempted a two-point conversion but failed, leaving them down 24-15. Their onside kick attempt was unsuccessful, and Chicago ran out the clock.
Game Impact and Looking Ahead
This victory moves the Bears to 9-3 and extends their winning streak to five games, firmly establishing them as serious NFC contenders. Williams showed great poise despite two interceptions, and the running game was absolutely dominant with 255 rushing yards as a team. Kyle Monangai continues his incredible rookie season, proving that undrafted players can make huge impacts.
The Eagles fall to 8-4 and have now lost two straight games after their devastating Dallas collapse. Despite A.J. Brown's heroic effort and Hurts throwing for 230 yards, Philadelphia couldn't establish their running game, as Saquon Barkley managed just 56 yards on 13 carries.
Chicago will look to keep their hot streak alive against their next opponent, while Philadelphia must regroup quickly to get back in the win column and secure their playoff position in the competitive NFC.
