The Bears left Green Bay with a tough 31-7 loss and a warning: one rough afternoon can change the feeling of a season fast. Now Chicago must walk into Atlanta’s loud indoor stadium and stop one of football’s hottest runners. Bijan Robinson has rushed for 580 yards in only five games, and he is the engine of a Falcons team trying to turn talent into wins.

Sunday’s 1 p.m. game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium gives both teams a chance to steer their story back in the right direction. Chicago is 3-2 and still chasing a second straight NFC North title. Atlanta is 2-3 under new coach Kevin Stefanski, with a chance to climb back to .500 and build belief in the NFC South race.

Robinson is the biggest problem on the field. He can squeeze through a small gap, bounce away from tacklers, or catch a short pass and race into open space. His 102 carries show that Atlanta trusts him to carry the offense. The Falcons run for nearly 167 yards per game, so the Bears will need to swarm to the ball and make sure one missed tackle does not become a long run.

If Chicago crowds the line to stop Robinson, quarterback Michael Penix Jr. can look toward Drake London. London has 488 receiving yards, using his size to make difficult catches over defenders. Tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. adds another target over the middle. The Bears have allowed only 19.2 points per game, but their defense faces a tougher task without suspended pass rusher Montez Sweat and with linebacker T.J. Edwards doubtful.

Chicago’s offense has its own answer: balance. The Bears gain more than 392 yards per game because they can run or throw from almost anywhere on the field. D’Andre Swift gives them quick cuts and breakaway speed, while Rome Odunze can stretch defenses outside. Colston Loveland is a useful middle-of-the-field target when the Bears need a safe completion.

The key question is whether quarterback Caleb Williams can play freely after being listed as questionable with a hamstring issue. He was estimated as a full participant in Wednesday’s practice, which is encouraging for Chicago. The Bears also need cleaner ball security after Green Bay grabbed two interceptions and turned Chicago’s mistakes into points.

Atlanta’s defense has given up more points than it has scored, and losing cornerback A.J. Terrell Jr. to injured reserve could make defending Odunze harder. But the Falcons have shown their ceiling in back-to-back wins over New Orleans and Green Bay, scoring 45 and 35 points. Their rushing attack can control the clock and keep Chicago’s playmakers waiting on the sideline.

This game may come down to which team protects the ball and stays patient when the first big play arrives. Chicago has the stronger record, tougher scoring defense, and more total offense so far. The Bears should bounce back from last week’s stumble and win a close road game.
