The 76ers have started the season like a team with a clear destination. As of Saturday, Oct. 31, Philadelphia stood 6-1 after three tight wins in four nights, including a 109-104 finish over Charlotte. On Monday night in Philadelphia, the Bulls arrive with a different kind of story. Chicago is 1-5, but its young group keeps getting chances to learn fast, and this game puts that growth under bright lights.

Tyrese Maxey is the spark at the center of Philadelphia’s early surge. He is averaging 29.6 points, and his quick first step turns a small opening into a race to the rim. Maxey can also pull up for jumpers, which makes defenders choose between stopping his drive and guarding his shot. Chicago has allowed 15.8 more points than it scores per game so far, so staying connected to Maxey from the opening tip will be a huge job.

The Sixers have more than one answer when defenses crowd their speedy guard. Joel Embiid brings size near the basket, where he can score through contact and grab rebounds. He is also handing out 5.2 assists per game, showing that he can find teammates when extra defenders rush toward him. LeBron James adds steady passing and strong rebounding, while Jaylen Brown and V.J. Edgecombe give Philadelphia athletic wings who can attack the lane and guard on the outside. Philadelphia is not making a huge share of its shots yet, but it protects the ball well with only 12.7 turnovers per game. That keeps its stars in control of the story.

Chicago can make the night difficult by leaning on its own young size and energy. Caleb Wilson has been a bright early chapter, scoring 21.2 points per game while adding 6.7 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 1.5 blocks. The 6-foot-9 forward can soar above the rim, handle the ball, and chase players across different spots on the floor. His matchup with Philadelphia’s bigger wings should bring plenty of fast, physical moments.

Josh Giddey must help Wilson get moving. Giddey averages 7.5 assists, and his passing can send Chicago running before Philadelphia’s defense gets set. The Bulls also rebound well, grabbing 45.8 per game, which can create extra tries near the basket. Yet Chicago’s 17.7 turnovers per game are a major hurdle. Careless passes could fuel Maxey’s fast breaks, while the Bulls are also shooting only 28.1 percent from three-point range. Cleaner possessions would help Chicago turn its athleticism into points.

The Bulls will be without center Nic Claxton because of a hamstring injury, removing a rim protector from a demanding matchup with Embiid. Chicago has enough young talent to push the pace and make highlights, but Philadelphia’s deeper group of proven stars, careful ball movement, and 6-1 start point in one direction. The prediction: the 76ers win, with Maxey’s speed setting the tone.
