Boston is one of America's oldest cities, known for the Freedom Trail, its harbor, and loyal sports fans.

Boston: An Old City by the Sea

Boston, the historic capital of Massachusetts, stands as the largest city in New England. Settlers founded it back in 1630, making it one of the oldest cities in the country. Its narrow streets, lined with smooth cobblestones and rows of red brick houses, still reflect that long history. Because so much history survives here, visitors often say walking through Boston feels like stepping into the past. Boston is also known for its many fine universities, which draw students from across the globe each year.

The Freedom Trail and Old Ships

The Freedom Trail is one of Boston's most celebrated attractions. This red-brick path winds through the city for about two and a half miles. Along its route, the trail connects sixteen historic sites, including Paul Revere's house and the Old North Church. Anchored in the harbor sits the USS Constitution, a historic wooden warship that remains afloat to this day. Each year, thousands of visitors walk the full trail to experience centuries of American history firsthand.

Football, Marathons, and Chowder

Sports fans across Boston show fierce, lasting pride in their football team. Many travel out to Gillette Stadium to watch the team compete, having claimed six championships over the years. Every spring, runners from around the world gather to compete in the historic Boston Marathon, cheered on by crowds that line the streets for miles. Locals also take great pride in sharing warm bowls of creamy clam chowder, a dish deeply tied to the region's identity.
