Kyler Murray saw a narrow lane, burst through it, and turned a tense Sunday into another Minnesota celebration. His 35-yard scramble early in the fourth quarter set up T.J. Hockenson’s go-ahead touchdown as the Vikings beat the Colts 16-10 at U.S. Bank Stadium. Minnesota entered at 5-0 trying to protect its perfect start, while Indianapolis came in at 2-4 needing to stop a two-game slide. In a hard, physical game, the Vikings’ defense and Murray’s quick feet wrote the final chapter.

Indianapolis struck first with the exact kind of start it needed. Jonathan Taylor took a handoff near midfield, cut through a crease on the left side, and raced 38 yards for a touchdown. His burst gave the Colts a 7-0 lead with 9:13 left in the first quarter. Taylor finished with 95 rushing yards, proving again how difficult he is to contain once he gets rolling.

Minnesota did not panic. Murray moved the offense with short throws to Jordan Addison, Justin Jefferson, and Hockenson, while Jordan Mason brought tough runs between the tackles. The Vikings reached the Colts’ 10-yard line late in the first quarter but had to settle for Will Reichard’s 28-yard field goal early in the second. Later, Murray escaped pressure deep in his own territory and found Jefferson for 21 yards, helping Minnesota march back down the field. Reichard hit from 47 yards, cutting Indianapolis’ lead to 7-6.

The Colts answered with a long drive before halftime. Daniel Jones used short completions and runs by Taylor and Seth McGowan to reach Minnesota territory. But the Vikings tightened near the goal line. A holding penalty erased a run to the 3-yard line, and linebacker Blake Cashman dropped Jones for an 11-yard loss. Spencer Shrader made a 43-yard field goal as time expired, but Indianapolis had to accept a 10-6 halftime lead instead of a bigger cushion.

Minnesota’s defense took over after the break. Cashman had two sacks, and the Vikings brought down Jones four times overall. Indianapolis still pushed into field-goal range late in the third quarter, but Shrader’s 56-yard try sailed wide left.

That miss opened the door for Murray. On the first play of the fourth quarter, he scrambled 35 yards to the Colts’ 5-yard line. One play later, he fired a short touchdown pass to Hockenson for a 13-10 lead. It was Murray’s only touchdown pass, but it arrived at the game’s biggest moment.

The Colts had one more chance after a blocked Minnesota field-goal try and another Shrader miss from 48 yards. Yet Murray guided a late drive that ended with Reichard’s 52-yard field goal, making it 16-10 with 1:39 left. On Indianapolis’ next play, safety Smith intercepted Jones to finish the fight.

Minnesota is now 6-0 and heads next to the Detroit Lions with another close win built on poise and defense. Indianapolis falls to 2-5 and faces the Jacksonville Jaguars next, still searching for the clean finish that can turn strong rushing efforts into victories.
