Detroit's Bats Wake Up After Tough Week
The Tigers scored 9 runs yesterday and dominated Houston 9-3. Keith launched two home runs. Dingler and Torkelson went deep too. McGonigle smashed one as well. This is the Tigers we've been waiting to see all season. Their offense finally showed up in a big way. Now Casey Mize takes the mound today as Detroit tries to sweep this series. The Tigers are 30-42 overall and need wins like this. Yesterday's explosion proves they can compete with anyone when they're hot.
Mize Looks Sharp Despite Missing Time
Casey Mize is back from injury and ready to pitch today. The former first overall pick was named to his first All-Star game last year. Mize has an incredible 1.5 ERA this season with 9 strikeouts. His WHIP sits at 1, which means he's been dominant. This is huge for Detroit because Jack Flaherty landed on the injured list. Mize will need to hold down the rotation while others heal. If he pitches like he did in the All-Star game, Houston won't score many runs today.
Houston Needs to Stop the Bleeding
The Astros lost their last two games and sit at 33-41. They're in real trouble right now. Carlos Correa is out for the season with an ankle injury. Hunter Brown is their new ace leading the rotation. Josh Hader remains one of baseball's best closers. Peter Lambert starts today for Houston. The Astros need to find a way to stop Detroit's hot offense. Yesterday's loss by 6 runs showed they can't match the Tigers' power. Can they bounce back today, or will Detroit keep rolling?
