Yankees Stumbling Without Judge
The Yankees are 41-26 and riding a four-game winning streak. But here's the gut punch: Aaron Judge just landed on the injured list with a stress fracture in his rib. Judge is their leader, their home run king, their engine. Without him, the offense suddenly feels incomplete. The team won't see him again until late July at the earliest. This is a massive hit to a lineup that already has Giancarlo Stanton out too. The Yankees need other bats to step up big right now. They're still winning games, but losing Judge changes everything for the rest of June.
Blue Jays Need Springer and Guerrero to Click
Toronto is 33-36 with a tough stretch ahead. They lost their last game and need to bounce back fast. George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. are supposed to be their two biggest offensive weapons. But right now, Springer is hitting just .184 with limited production. Guerrero is only hitting .216 with four RBIs. These are two of the best hitters on the team, and they're both struggling. If they wake up, the Blue Jays can compete. If they stay cold, Toronto will keep losing close games. This series against New York is a perfect chance to get right.
Pitching Faces Off in Battle of Replacements
Ryan Weathers takes the mound for New York with a 5.35 ERA and 1.39 WHIP. Those aren't great numbers, and Weathers has gone 0-1 this season. He'll face off against Dylan Cease, who is dominating so far with a 1.62 ERA and 23 strikeouts. Cease's 0.81 WHIP shows he's keeping runners off base. This is a serious mismatch on paper. If Cease pitches like his stats suggest, he could shut down the Yankees. Weathers needs to be sharp and throw strikes. One strong outing could flip the momentum for New York heading into the weekend.
