Game opener and score overview
Monday night brought the Arizona Diamondbacks to Baltimore for a tense matchup at Camden Yards. The Diamondbacks wanted a road win while the Orioles tried to protect home turf. The final score was Baltimore 9, Arizona 7 after a back-and-forth game that swung wildly. Arizona jumped ahead early with a homer and built a big lead by the sixth inning. Baltimore rallied with a huge sixth-inning outburst and then finished the comeback with late homers. Fans saw big swings, long balls, and dramatic momentum shifts that made the game feel like a short, thrilling story.
Early scoring and the first lead
Arizona grabbed the early lead in the first inning when Marte blasted a 443-foot homer to right. That long ball put Arizona up 1β0 right away because it left the park on a 94 mph fastball. Marte struck again in the third with another homer, this one 405 feet, and Arizona led 2β0. Baltimore answered in the third when Henderson tripled and Alexander scored, making it 2β1. The early frames showed power from Arizona and quick reactions by Baltimore. Pitchers battled, hitters swung for distance, and the score kept both teams within reach as the game moved forward.
Turning point, comeback, and finish
Arizona stretched the lead in the fourth and sixth with big homers by Arenado. In the fourth he cleared the left-field wall and two runs scored to make it 4β1. Then Arenado hit a three-run homer in the sixth and Arizona led 7β1. Baltimore then erupted in the bottom of the sixth when Taveras singled and Jackson slugged a grand slam, pulling Baltimore to 7β6. The Orioles took the lead in the seventh when Alonso homered, and Jackson added another long shot in the eighth. The game ended 9β7, and Baltimore improved to 8β7 while Arizona fell to 9β7.
