Rays Dominate Early
The Arizona Diamondbacks flew into Tampa Bay looking to bounce back after losing 2-4 the night before. You could feel the energy shift fast. Merrill Kelly took the mound for Arizona, but the Rays came out swinging. Junior Caminero cranked a single to left in the first inning, and Yandy Diaz raced home. One-nothing Rays. The Rays were hungry and the Diamondbacks fell behind quick.
Caminero Crushes Again
The Rays weren't done yet. In the fifth inning, Junior Caminero stepped up again with two outs. This kid was on fire. He ripped a fastball and sent it soaringā463 feet to center field. The ball exploded off his bat like a cannon shot. Home run. The Rays led 4-0 and you could feel it was over. Then Ben Williamson came up in the sixth inning. Another fastball. Marte's Solo Shot Too Late
The Diamondbacks finally got on the board in the eighth inning. Ketel Marte stepped up and crushed a fastball to center fieldā424 feet of power. The ball rocketed over the wall and the crowd went wild. Marte's solo homer made it 5-1. But it was way too little, way too late. Drew Rasmussen pitched six strong innings for Tampa Bay with no runs allowed. The Rays' bullpen locked it down from there. Craig Kimbrel, Garrett Cleavinger, and Trevor Martin combined to shut the door. Final score: Tampa Bay 5, Arizona 1. The Rays improved to 48-33 and won their fifth straight game. The Diamondbacks dropped to 41-42 and fell to 0-25 on the road. Arizona couldn't find their rhythm. Tampa Bay was just too strong at home.
