Braves bounce back after tough loss
The Atlanta Braves traveled to Miami on Tuesday, May 19, ready to answer back. Just one day earlier, the Marlins had dominated them 12-0, so the Braves had revenge on their minds. Playing at the Marlins' stadium, Atlanta came out swinging and quickly took control. Martin Perez took the mound for Atlanta while Braxton Garrett started for Miami. Right away, the Braves' bats woke up. In the first inning, Albies hit a sacrifice fly that brought Acuña Jr. home for the first run. Then Harris II singled to right, scoring Dubón and giving Atlanta a 2-0 lead. Although the Marlins answered back with their own runs in the first inning, the Braves had set the tone early with aggressive, intelligent baserunning and timely hitting.
Miami fights back, but Atlanta stays strong
The Marlins didn't back down easily. Edwards blasted a solo home run to left field, traveling 385 feet and thrilling the home crowd. Right after that, Stowers crushed a double down the right field line, and two runners crossed home plate. Miami took a 3-2 lead after the first inning—a dramatic swing. However, Atlanta's bats remained dangerous throughout the middle innings. In the fifth inning, Olson doubled to right and knocked in Acuña Jr., cutting Miami's lead to just one run at 4-3. The Braves kept applying pressure, refusing to quit even when facing a tough situation. Then in the sixth inning, Harris II launched a towering home run to center field, blasting it 421 feet and tying the game at 4-4. The momentum had completely shifted to Atlanta's side.
Eighth inning explosion seals Atlanta's victory
With the game tied at 4-4 entering the eighth inning, the Braves were ready to make their move. Atlanta's offense exploded in spectacular fashion during that crucial frame. With runners already in scoring position, Dubón reached on an infield single, and Yastrzemski scored to give Atlanta a 5-4 lead. The hits kept coming—Olson then singled to left field, driving in both Acuña Jr. and Kim with two powerful swings of momentum. That made it 7-4, and the Braves weren't done yet. In the ninth inning, Kim added one more run with a single to center, pushing Atlanta's final total to 8-4. The Braves finished with ten hits and dominated the late-game action when it mattered most, bouncing back from their embarrassing 12-0 loss the day before.
