Braves Dominate Phillies on Friday Night
The Atlanta Braves traveled to Philadelphia for a Friday night showdown against the Phillies. Coming off a thrilling 6–3 victory over the Marlins, Atlanta looked to continue their winning ways. The Braves had won three games in a row entering this matchup. Philadelphia, meanwhile, had lost three straight games after getting crushed 11–2 by the Cubs. Starting pitchers Martin Perez for Atlanta and Taijuan Walker for Philadelphia took the mound. From the very first inning, the Braves came out swinging and put pressure on the Phillies' defense. Walker struggled early as Atlanta scored two runs in the opening inning. The Braves' bats were hot, and their aggressive approach set the tone for what would become a lopsided contest. By night's end, Atlanta's superior pitching and powerful hitting proved too much for Philadelphia.
Early Onslaught: Braves Score 6 in Second Inning
After scoring two runs in the first inning, the Braves absolutely exploded in the second. Austin Riley stepped up to the plate and unleashed his power, smashing a three-run home run deep to right center field. The ball traveled an impressive 380 feet, and the crowd watched it soar over the wall. That massive home run made the score 6–0, and the Phillies were already in serious trouble. Riley's blast came after the Braves had already added a run when Olson singled to right, scoring Harris II. The momentum was entirely on Atlanta's side at this point. In the third inning, things got worse for Philadelphia when Dominic Smith crushed his own home run, also to right center. Smith's 406-foot shot extended the lead to 7–0. The Braves' lineup was unstoppable, and Walker couldn't escape the early-game disaster.
Braves Add Late Runs to Finish 9–0 Shutout
The game remained 7–0 through the middle innings as Martin Perez and the Braves' pitching staff held Philadelphia scoreless. Atlanta's pitchers were dominant, allowing the Phillies only six hits and zero runs through all nine innings. In the eighth inning, Harris II added another run with a 367-foot home run to right center, pushing the lead to 8–0. Then in the ninth inning, Riley came up big again, hitting his second home run of the game, a 374-footer that made it 9–0. When the final out was recorded, Atlanta had earned a complete shutout. The Braves finished with twelve hits and committed zero errors, showcasing clean baseball throughout. This dominant victory improved Atlanta to 13–7 on the season. Meanwhile, Philadelphia fell to 8–11 with the loss. The Braves' pitching depth and powerful lineup proved unstoppable.
