Ward Launches Orioles Past Angels
The Baltimore Orioles came to Los Angeles looking to keep their winning streak alive. They'd won three straight games and were hungry for another victory. The Angels? They were struggling, sitting at 32-48 and needing everything to go right. This game would be all Baltimore. Taylor Ward led off the fireworks in the first inning. He stepped up to face Sam Aldegheri and crushed a 92 mph fastball over the center-field wall. The ball flew 419 feet. Ward's home run made it 1-0 Orioles before the Angels could even blink. That blast set the tone for everything that followed. The Orioles' bats were awake, and the Angels' pitching was in trouble from pitch one.
Mayo's Blast Puts Baltimore In Control
By the fourth inning, the Orioles had loaded the bases with nobody out. Then Coby Mayo stepped to the plate. Aldegheri threw an 80 mph changeup. Mayo didn't miss. The ball rocketed to left field and kept going, going, going—over the wall for a three-run home run! That blast was 368 feet of pure power. Henderson and Alonso both scored on that same play. Suddenly it was 4-0 Orioles, and the game was completely out of reach. The Angels' pitcher was falling apart. Then Pete Alonso added another run in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly. Jackson scored on that play. By the sixth inning, O'Neill scored on a fielder's choice. Baltimore was demolishing Los Angeles 6-0.
Kyle Bradish Throws a Shutout Masterpiece
Kyle Bradish was phenomenal on the mound for Baltimore. The Orioles' starter threw eight innings of shutout baseball. He gave up just six hits and struck out nine Angels hitters. He walked only one. That's dominant pitching. Meanwhile, Gunnar Henderson tripled to right field in the seventh inning, and Ward scored on that play. The Angels finally got on the board in the ninth when Jorge Soler homered off Rico Garcia. The ball sailed 391 feet to left field. But it was too late. Baltimore had already won the game 6-1. Kyle Bradish's brilliant performance was the difference. The Orioles improved to 39-42 with this road victory. The Angels fell to 32-49.
