Orioles Strike Fast on the West Coast
The Orioles rolled into Dodger Stadium hunting for another win after beating Los Angeles 5-6 the night before. Baltimore came to play right from the start. In the first inning, Samuel Basallo's single to right sparked the attack. Taylor Ward scored on the play. One batter later, Colton Cowser ripped a single through the left side. Gunnar Henderson sprinted home. The Orioles had a quick 2-0 lead before the Dodgers even got their bats ready. Max Muncy answered back with a single in the bottom half, bringing Shohei Ohtani home. But Baltimore kept rolling. Taylor Ward crushed a fastball over the center field fence for a home run. The Orioles were up 3-1 after just two innings. Cowser stayed hot, launching another bomb to center in the third inning. Baltimore's bats were on fire against Dodgers starter Emmet Sheehan. The visiting team had control of this game early.
Cowser and Alonso Take Over the Game
Colton Cowser was unstoppable on this day. The Orioles outfielder had three hits and four RBIs, including two home runs. In the fourth inning, he singled to center again. Both Alonso and Ward scored on the play. Baltimore now led 6-1 and the Dodgers looked helpless. The seventh inning brought even more damage. Jeremiah Jackson doubled to right, scoring Blaze Alexander. Then Pete Alonso stepped up and did what he does best. The powerful first baseman crushed a sinker from Jonathan Hernandez into right center for a three-run homer. Jackson and Henderson scored along with Alonso. That blast made it 10-1. The Orioles had completely taken over the game. Alonso finished with two home runs and three RBIs on the day. Cowser's performance showed why Baltimore brought him to the plate early and often. The Dodgers' pitching staff could not find any answers.
Blaze Alexander Caps Off the Orioles Blowout
The Orioles added one more crushing blow in the eighth inning. Blaze Alexander came through with a home run to left center. Leody Taveras scored on the blast. That stretched Baltimore's lead to 12-1, which would be the final score. The Dodgers never got anything going offensively. Their big-name hitters like Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, and Mookie Betts managed just one hit each. Kyle Tucker went hitless. The Dodgers lineup looked nothing like the best offense in baseball. Brandon Young earned the win for Baltimore's pitching staff, allowing just one run over five innings. The Orioles improved to 37-42 with this road victory. Los Angeles fell to 49-29 after the loss. This game showed that even the best teams have off nights. The Orioles proved they could compete with anyone when their bats were hot and their pitching was solid.
