Orioles Dominate Early Against Marlins
The Baltimore Orioles traveled to Miami on Tuesday, May 5, ready to bounce back from a tough loss. The Marlins hosted the game at their home stadium, hoping to turn around a losing streak. From the opening pitch, the Orioles came out swinging with incredible energy and focus. Alonso delivered a powerful double to left field that rocketed off his bat at 100 mph, scoring two runs on a fielding error. Basallo followed with another double to center, hitting a screaming 111 mph fastball that traveled 382 feet. The Orioles jumped ahead 3-0 before Miami could even get settled. Although Sandy Alcántara took the mound for Miami, the Baltimore bats were simply too hot early. Starting pitcher Chris Bassitt kept the Marlins in check, despite giving up a run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first inning.
Marlins Fight Back, Orioles Hold Strong
Miami refused to give up despite the rough start. In the second inning, Hicks singled to center and drove in two runs with a sharp hit at 101 mph exit velocity, bringing the score to 3-3. The Marlins were suddenly back in the game, showing resilience and determination. Baltimore responded quickly in the third inning when Basallo singled to right, scoring two more runs to make it 5-3. Mack answered for Miami with a single of his own, narrowing the gap to 5-4. The two teams traded blows throughout the middle innings, each refusing to back down. In the fifth inning, Basallo launched a triple to right field with an exit velocity of 110 mph, and Cowser followed with a fielder's choice that scored another run. Baltimore extended their lead to 7-4, gaining control of the game's momentum and putting themselves in a strong position.
Late Drama and Orioles Hold On for Victory
The seventh inning brought excitement as Miami's bats came alive. Hicks launched a home run to right field that traveled 431 feet off a 98 mph fastball, making it 7-5. Lopez followed immediately with another blast to center that went 415 feet, narrowing the gap to 7-6. The crowd roared as Miami kept fighting. In the eighth inning, Ruiz scored on a throwing error, tying the game at 7-7. The Orioles refused to fold under pressure, though. In the ninth inning, Baltimore sealed the victory with two final runs. Rutschman singled to left to score Ward, then Taveras added another single that brought home Alonso with the clinching run. When the dust settled, the Orioles won 9-7 in a thrilling contest. Baltimore improved their record while Miami suffered their third straight loss. Both teams showed tremendous talent and determination throughout this exciting Tuesday night matchup.
