Baltimore Strikes Early at Rogers Centre
The Baltimore Orioles rolled into Toronto hungry for another win. They were riding a two-game winning streak and their bats were hot. The Blue Jays had dropped their last game and needed to bounce back at home. You could feel the energy shift in the first inning when Adley Rutschman stepped up. The catcher ripped a fastball 404 feet to center field for a solo home run. Baltimore led 1-0 instantly. Toronto answered right back in the bottom of the first when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. lifted a sacrifice fly to center. George Springer scored easily. The score was tied 1-1. The Orioles were ready for war. Rutschman was locked in from pitch one.
Sixth Inning Explosion Crushes the Blue Jays
The game stayed tight through the middle innings. Then the sixth inning arrived and Baltimore's offense woke up completely. Rutschman doubled to center and both Gunnar Henderson and Jackson Holliday scored on the same play. The Orioles were suddenly up 3-1. Jeremiah Jackson followed with a single to center that scored Rutschman. Now it was 4-1. Toronto was getting buried. Coby Mayo stepped in and launched a slider 396 feet to left field for a two-run homer. Jackson scored too. That made it 6-1 Baltimore. The Blue Jays' pitcher Trey Yesavage could not get anyone out. By the time the inning ended, the Orioles had a 6-3 lead and the game was essentially over.
Baltimore Dominates Late to Secure Road Victory
The eighth inning brought more pain for Toronto. Jackson singled to center and scored Rutschman. Cowser followed with another single that scored Jackson. Mayo came home on a grounder. Baltimore was up 9-3 and running away with it. In the ninth inning, Rutschman doubled again and Henderson and Taylor Ward both scored. That made it 11-3. Then an error on a throw gave the Orioles two more runs. Alonso and Rutschman both scored on the mistake. The final score was Baltimore 13, Toronto 3. The Orioles improved to 31-33 on the season. Brandon Young earned the win. Rutschman had an incredible night going 4-for-4 with four runs and five RBIs. This was a complete demolition on the road.
