Red Sox Strike Fast, Then Rockies Roar Back
The Boston Red Sox came into Coors Field hungry after losing 3-2 the night before. They wanted to bounce back. Kyle Freeland took the mound for Colorado, looking to shut down Boston's bats. But the Red Sox had other plans. In the first inning, Willson Contreras smacked a sharp double to center field, and Ceddanne Rafaela raced home. Boston led 1-0. The Red Sox weren't done yet. Connor Wong stepped up in the second inning and launched a massive home run over the left field wall. The ball soared 380 feet. Seigler scored ahead of him. Just like that, Boston had a 3-0 lead. The Rockies were down early but the game was far from over.
Colorado Climbs Back Inning by Inning
The Rockies clawed back slowly. In the bottom of the third, TJ Rumfield doubled to right field. That brought Castro and Freeman into scoring position. Cole Carrigg stepped up and hit a sacrifice fly. Freeman scored. The Rockies were down 3-2 but stayed alive. The fourth inning brought more hope. Andruw Monasterio crushed a solo home run 365 feet to left for Boston, making it 4-2. But Colorado answered right back when Tyler Freeman singled to center, driving in Kyle Karros. The score stayed tight. In the fifth, Anthony Seigler doubled to left for Boston, pushing the lead to 6-3. Every inning felt crucial. The Rockies kept fighting, refusing to quit despite trailing.
Rockies Rally in the Seventh and Eighth Innings
The game exploded in the seventh inning. Boston's bullpen took over and Colorado's bats woke up. Cole Carrigg singled to left, and Freeman crossed home plate. Jake McCarthy followed with a sharp single to right, driving in Goodman. Troy Johnston came through with another single to center, giving Carrigg the chance to score. Suddenly it was 6-6 and the crowd roared. The eighth inning brought the final punch. Freeman laid down a sacrifice bunt that scored Mickey Moniak. Carrigg doubled to right, and Castro raced home to give Colorado the lead 8-6. The Rockies had battled back from down 6-3. They never gave up. Final score: Colorado 8, Boston 6. The Rockies improved to 32-49 while Boston fell to 32-45.
