Game overview and final score
The Twins hosted the Red Sox at Target Field in Minneapolis on Monday, April 13. Minnesota won 13–6 in a game that got wild early. Boston started Garrett Crochet on the mound, while Bailey Ober took the hill for the Twins. The home crowd watched Minnesota explode for runs in the first two innings, and that set the tone for the night. Although Boston battled back with a three-run third and more scoring later, the Twins kept piling on big hits. As a result, Minnesota pulled away and finished with strong offense and several long hits that excited the fans.
Early scoring and big hits
In the first inning Minnesota struck fast and scored four runs. Keaschall doubled home Martin to open the scoring, and Jeffers followed with a single that pushed the lead to 2–0. Later in the inning, Lee hit an infield single that drove in Jeffers, and a throwing error by Boston’s shortstop allowed Caratini to score. The Twins did not stop there. In the second inning they added seven more runs, including a huge three-run homer by Caratini and a solo home run by Kreidler. Those big hits gave Minnesota a huge early lead.
Late rallies and final moments
Boston rallied in the middle innings but could not catch Minnesota. In the third the Red Sox scored three runs when Durbin doubled and Duran hit a two-run home run, cutting the score to 11–3. The Twins answered in the fifth with back-to-back homers by Buxton and Jeffers, which pushed the lead to 13–3. Boston added runs in the sixth and seventh with singles by Story, Monasterio, and Abreu, making it 13–6. However, Minnesota held on the last innings and finished the game without errors. The win improved the Twins’ record, while Boston’s record moved to 6–9.
