Red Sox Bounce Back After Tough Loss
The Boston Red Sox came to Seattle ready to win after dropping a heartbreaker the night before. The Mariners had won 6-2 on Saturday, but today was different. You could feel the energy shift as Boston's pitcher Connelly Early took the mound at T-Mobile Park. He was locked in from pitch one. Early would throw six strong innings with seven strikeouts. But Seattle struck first in the bottom of the first inning. Josh Naylor's single up the middle scored J.P. Crawford. The home crowd erupted. Boston trailed 1-0. The Red Sox needed to answer back fast. This was their chance to take control of the series. Every pitch mattered. Every at-bat meant something. The game was just getting started.
Abreu's Blast Flips the Game Upside Down
The fourth inning changed everything. Wilyer Abreu stepped into the batter's box against Emerson Hancock. The Red Sox right fielder was ready. Hancock threw an 84 mph cutter. Abreu didn't miss it. The ball exploded off his bat and soared over center field. It traveled 414 feet before landing deep in the bleachers. Anthony Seigler scored ahead of him. Just like that, Boston led 2-1. The Red Sox weren't done yet. In the sixth inning, the bats came alive again. A wild pitch by José Ferrer moved runners into scoring position. Wilyer Abreu scored on that same wild pitch. Then Caleb Durbin smacked an infield single that brought Willson Contreras home. Marcelo Mayer followed with another infield single to score Jarren Duran. Boston now led 5-1. The Red Sox had seized control completely.
Red Sox Cruise to Victory in the Finish
Boston's bats had completely silenced Seattle. The Mariners couldn't get anything going against the Red Sox pitching. Connelly Early was dominant. He'd finished his six innings strong with just one run allowed. The Red Sox bullpen took over from there. Tyron Guerrero threw a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. Garrett Whitlock came in and struck out one batter clean. Danny Coulombe closed it out with a spotless inning. Seattle never really threatened after that sixth inning explosion. When the final out was recorded, Boston walked off with a 5-1 victory. The Red Sox improved to 32-43 with momentum building. Seattle fell to 39-40 after the loss. This win showed that Boston's pitching could shut down any lineup. The Red Sox have now won two straight games. They're finding their rhythm at exactly the right time in the season.
