White Sox Come to Play in Baltimore
The Chicago White Sox rolled into Camden Yards ready for a fight. These teams had opposite problems heading in. Chicago sat at 43-39 and hungry to stay above .500. Baltimore limped in at 39-46, losing two straight. The Orioles needed a win badly. Sean Burke took the mound for Chicago. Shane Baz pitched for Baltimore. Neither team expected what was coming. By game's end, Chicago dominated 8-2. The White Sox turned this into a showcase of smart hitting and timely offense. Jacob Gonzalez and Colson Montgomery led the charge. The Orioles' bats stayed mostly quiet. This wasn't a close contest. Chicago controlled the pace and kept Baltimore at arm's length throughout the night.
The Middle Innings Turn into a Slugfest
Things heated up in the third inning. Jacob Gonzalez smacked a double to center field. That hit brought Chase Meidroth racing home for the first run. Chicago led 1-0. But Baltimore answered right back. Adley Rutschman sent a sacrifice fly to left. That brought Gunnar Henderson across the plate to tie it 1-1. The White Sox struck again in the same inning. Kyle Teel cracked an infield single. Gonzalez scored on the play. Chicago grabbed a 2-1 lead. Baltimore tied it once more when Rutschman flew out again, scoring Blaze Alexander. The momentum kept swinging. Both teams looked dangerous. You could feel the energy building toward something bigger.
Chicago Breaks the Game Wide Open Late
The eighth inning belonged to Chicago. Colson Montgomery doubled down the middle. Sam Antonacci raced home to make it 3-2. Randal Grichuk followed with a single to center. Montgomery scored and Chicago led 4-2. The ninth inning was pure White Sox magic. Jacob Gonzalez ripped a single to center. Tristan Peters and Meidroth both scored on the play. The score jumped to 6-2. Then chaos struck. Teel reached on an error by third baseman Blaze Alexander. Gonzalez scored on that mistake. Antonacci scored too. Just like that, it was 8-2. The game was over. Chicago's pitching held firm. The White Sox escaped Baltimore with a convincing road victory.
