White Sox Come Out Swinging in Baltimore
The White Sox rolled into Camden Yards ready for a fight. Baltimore had beaten Chicago the night before, 8–2, but this Tuesday night felt different. The Orioles were struggling—they'd lost three straight games and sat at 39–47 on the season. Chicago came in at 44–39, hungry to keep their winning streak alive. You could feel the energy the moment the first pitch flew. Andrew Benintendi stepped up against Trey Gibson and smacked a double down the right field line. Kyle Teel sprinted home on the hit, and just like that, the White Sox had their first run. Baltimore answered back quick when Samuel Basallo singled to right, bringing home Gunnar Henderson. The game was tied 1–1 after one inning. This was shaping up to be a shootout.
Montgomery and Perez Explode in the Third
Then came the third inning, and the White Sox offense woke up like a sleeping giant. Colson Montgomery stepped into the box against Gibson and crushed a fastball—a 440-foot bomb that sailed over right-center field. Benintendi scored ahead of him, and Chicago led 3–1. But Gibson's night was about to get much worse. Jacob Gonzalez singled to left, and both Braden Montgomery and Chase Meidroth came flying home. The score jumped to 5–1. Then Junior Perez came up and launched a 409-foot missile to center field—another home run! Peters and Gonzalez scored on the blast. After one wild inning, the White Sox had scored eight runs. They led 8–1, and the Orioles looked completely overwhelmed. Gibson wouldn't make it past this frame.
White Sox Keep Rolling to Easy Victory
Chicago wasn't done scoring yet. In the fourth inning, Jacob Gonzalez doubled to center off Josh Walker, and Peters came home to make it 9–1. The White Sox had five runs in just two innings. Meanwhile, Erick Fedde pitched five innings for Chicago, giving up only three runs on five hits. He struck out three and earned the win. The Orioles managed to score two more runs in the fifth when Dylan Beavers doubled to right, scoring Henderson, and Pete Alonso singled to left, bringing home Beavers. That made it 9–3. But Baltimore couldn't make a comeback. Chicago's relief pitcher Tyler Schweitzer took over and shut the door, striking out three over four innings with no runs allowed. When the final out was recorded, the scoreboard read White Sox 9, Orioles 3. Chicago improved to 45–39. Baltimore fell to 39–48.
