Guardians Strike First at Home
The Chicago White Sox rolled into Cleveland on Thursday night after losing their last game. They were hungry for a win against the Guardians at home plate. You could feel the energy as both teams took the field. Right away, Cleveland came out swinging. In the third inning, Travis Bazzana smacked a double to right field. Patrick Bailey came sprinting home. The Guardians were up 1-0. Then Davis Martin threw a curveball at 79 miles per hour. Brayan Rocchio watched it sail by. He worked the count and drew a walk. Bazzana raced home from second base. Watson moved to second. Manzardo planted himself on third. Cleveland had struck for two runs. The Guardians were in control early. Chicago had to answer back fast or fall behind early.
White Sox Explode Back with Power Hitting
Chicago wasn't going down without a fight. The White Sox came roaring back in the fifth inning. Sam Antonacci stepped up and ripped a double down the left field line. Tristan Peters raced home from second base. The Sox trailed 2-1. Kyle Teel came up next and launched a double to right field. Antonacci sprinted across home plate. Vargas followed right behind him. Two more runs scored! Chicago took a 3-2 lead with one swing. In the sixth inning, Chase Meidroth crushed a sinker over 93 miles per hour into right field. The ball rocketed over the wall. Braden Montgomery scored. Meidroth's home run made it 5-2. Chicago had taken complete control. They were swinging bats like they meant business.
Guardians Rally Late to Steal the Win
Chicago led 5-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. Chase DeLauter stepped up to the plate with runners in scoring position. He grounded out to first base, but Gabriel Arias crossed home plate. The deficit shrank to 5-3. Then came the seventh inning. David Fry stood in the batter's box facing Brandon Eisert. The pitcher threw a four-seam fastball at 91 miles per hour. Fry connected and sent the ball flying over the left field wall for a solo homer. The gap narrowed to 5-4. Cleveland kept charging. In the ninth inning, Brayan Rocchio came up with one out. Grant Taylor wound up and delivered. Rocchio swung hard and crushed a fastball over the right field fence. The ball disappeared into the night. Rocchio's two-run blast gave Cleveland the 6-5 victory.
