White Sox Strike Early Against Angels
The Chicago White Sox visited the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday, May 5, ready to put runs on the board. Coming off a tough loss to the Padres on Sunday, the White Sox were hungry for victory. Starting pitcher Davis Martin took the mound for Chicago, while José Soriano started for the home team Angels. From the opening inning, the White Sox wasted no time scoring. Meidroth singled to center, bringing Antonacci home for the first run. Then Benintendi followed with another single, and Murakami crossed the plate. Just like that, Chicago led 2–0 before the Angels could even blink. The early offensive explosion gave the White Sox momentum heading into the middle innings.
Fourth Inning Explosion Puts Game Away
The fourth inning became the turning point, when the White Sox erupted with incredible power. Murakami came up and smashed a fastball deep to center field. The ball soared 429 feet into the sky before landing for a two-run homer, with Antonacci scoring ahead of him. Chicago now led 4–0. The White Sox weren't done yet. Vargas stepped up and launched his own home run to right-center, traveling 378 feet. That made it 5–0, and suddenly the Angels looked helpless at the plate. José Soriano was struggling to find his rhythm on the mound. Chicago's young bats were showing exactly why the franchise had built around developing talent for the future.
White Sox Defense Shuts Out the Angels
After the fourth inning fireworks, the Chicago White Sox defense locked down completely. The Angels managed only five hits throughout the entire game but scored zero runs. Despite their efforts, Los Angeles couldn't find a way to break through against the White Sox pitching. In the eighth inning, Montgomery singled to right, allowing Murakami to score one final run and make it 6–0. The Angels' bats remained silent, finishing without a single run on the scoreboard. When the final out was recorded, Chicago had dominated from start to finish, improving their record to 17–19. The White Sox's young pitching staff and developing offense came together perfectly in this blowout victory.
