The White Sox Strike First at Target Field
The Minnesota Twins hosted the Chicago White Sox at Target Field on Tuesday night. Coming in, the Twins had just beaten the White Sox 9-6 the night before. This game told a completely different story. The final score would be 6-4 in Minnesota's favor, but the White Sox came ready to fight. Davis Martin took the mound for Chicago. He pitched hard early. In the third inning, everything clicked for the visitors. Luisangel Acuña scored on a throwing error by catcher Alex Jackson. Then Miguel Vargas ripped a single to left field. Chase Meidroth and Randal Grichuk both scored on that hit. The White Sox grabbed a 3-0 lead before the Twins even got rolling.
The Twins Fight Back With Power Hitting
The Twins did not sit still. Minnesota's hitters stepped up big. In the bottom of the third, Brooks Lee hit a sacrifice fly to left field. Tristan Gray scored easily. The score was now 3-1. Then came the fourth inning. Luke Keaschall singled to left. That brought Larnach home. Keaschall raced to second base on the hit. Next, Tristan Gray ripped a single of his own. Two more runs scored. Keaschall and Martin crossed home plate. The Twins took a 3-4 lead. Alex Jackson added another single to right field. Gray scored again. Minnesota had flipped the game completely around in just two innings.
Minnesota Holds On for a Hard-Fought Victory
The game stayed tight down the stretch. In the fifth inning, Luke Keaschall singled again. Bell scored to make it 3-6 in the Twins' favor. The White Sox would not give up, though. In the seventh inning, Chase Meidroth reached on an infield single. Acuña scored to cut the lead to 4-6. But Minnesota's pitching shut the door from there. Connor Prielipp was strong on the mound for the Twins. He threw six solid innings with seven strikeouts. The Twins' bullpen locked it down. When the final out was made, Minnesota had won 6-4. The Twins improved to 30-33. Chicago fell to 32-30. The White Sox had fought hard but came up just short against a Twins team that refused to quit.
