Game overview and setting
The Miami Marlins hosted the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, April 8. The Marlins aimed to win at home while the Reds wanted to test their pitching staff. The game ended with Miami beating Cincinnati 7–4 at the Marlins' stadium in Miami. Early action set a fast pace, and both teams pushed runs across the bases. The first inning was electric because multiple runs came on both sides. Cincinnati scored two quick runs, but Miami answered with two and then rallied more. By the third inning, Miami had taken a lead that shaped much of the contest.
Early innings and scoring plays
The first inning crackled with action and adrenaline. Cincinnati scored first when De La Cruz crossed on an error, making it 1–0 with two outs. Then Suárez doubled down the right-field line and Stewart scored, so the Reds led 2–0 after the top of the first. Miami answered in their half with Ramirez doubling to left to make it 2–1, and later Hicks singled to tie the score 2–2 in the same inning. In the second, Marsee and Edwards hit back-to-back run singles to chase ahead and put Miami up 4–2 by the end of the second inning.
Turning point and final innings
The turning point came in the third inning when Conine blasted a two-run homer that traveled 403 feet. That big swing changed the scoreboard and gave Miami a 6–2 lead with two outs. Cincinnati tried to come back in the fifth when Stewart homered to left and McLain scored, cutting the gap to 6–4. However, Norby hit a solo homer in the seventh to push Miami ahead 7–4, and no more runs were scored. As a result, Miami finished strong and won 7–4, moving their record to 7–5 while Cincinnati fell to 8–4 after the loss.
