Stewart Blasts Opening Shot for Cincinnati
The Cincinnati Reds rolled into American Family Field looking to bounce back hard. They'd just lost 7-2 the night before, and they wanted to show Milwaukee they belonged in this series. The Brewers had the better record at 53-32, but the Reds were hungry. In the top of the first inning, Sal Stewart stepped up against Jacob Misiorowski. The Brewers' right-hander fired a 102-mile-per-hour fastball. Stewart didn't miss it. He crushed the ball to right-center field. It sailed 402 feet and landed in the seats. One swing gave Cincinnati an early 1-0 lead. The Brewers' strong start to 2025 suddenly looked vulnerable.
Trevino and Friedl Power Cincinnati's Big Inning
By the fourth inning, Cincinnati had loaded the bases. Chase Burns was pitching for the Brewers, and the Reds were ready to strike. Noelvi Marte singled to center and drove in JJ Bleday. That made it 2-0. Then Jose Trevino stepped into the batter's box. He faced a 95-mile-per-hour cutter and connected with authority. The ball sailed 358 feet over the left field wall. Trevino's three-run homer exploded the game wide open. Suddenly, Cincinnati led 5-0 and dominated the Brewers. In the seventh inning, TJ Friedl added to the damage. His home run to center traveled 395 feet. Cincinnati now led 6-2 with their powerful bats taking over.
Milwaukee Scores But Cincinnati Holds Strong
The Brewers fought back in the bottom of the fifth. Garrett Mitchell launched a home run to left field that traveled 366 feet. That made it 5-1. In the sixth inning, Brice Turang doubled to left and brought Jackson Chourio home. The score climbed to 5-2. Then in the eighth inning, Cincinnati added one more run when TJ Friedl singled to right. His hit scored Matt McLain, pushing the Reds' lead to 7-2. That was the final score. The Reds improved to 40-46 with the victory. The Brewers dropped to 53-32. Cincinnati had earned a strong win on the road against a playoff contender.
