Padres Host Reds at Petco Park
The San Diego Padres were ready to bounce back. They'd lost the night before, 2-6, and now faced the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday at Petco Park. Cincinnati came in at 32-34 and hungry to keep their winning streak alive. San Diego sat at 34-32, desperate to turn things around. Both teams knew this game mattered. The Reds had Brady Singer on the mound, a pitcher who could shut you down. The Padres countered with Michael King, their ace who could dominate any lineup. The crowd packed the stadium, ready for fireworks. By game's end, San Diego pulled out a 5-4 victory in an absolute thriller. Every inning brought drama. Every pitch mattered. This was baseball at its finest.
Bleday and Steer Launch Home Run Barrage
The first inning started hot. Manny Machado stepped up and crushed a double down the left field line. Jackson Merrill came racing home—just like that, it was 0-1 Padres. The Reds refused to quit. In the fourth inning, Spencer Steer connected on a Michael King sinker and sent it soaring 387 feet over the left field wall. JJ Bleday scored right ahead of him. The game was tied 2-2. Then came the fifth inning. Fernando Tatis Jr. ripped a single to right field. Rodolfo Durán sprinted home and the Padres went back up 2-3. But the Reds were not done. JJ Bleday stepped into the batter's box in the seventh and launched an 86-mph changeup over the right field fence for 391 feet. Cincinnati led 4-3. Back and forth they went.
Padres Walk Off as Tatis Crushes Final Shot
The eighth inning brought chaos. The Reds' bullpen cracked. Eugenio Suarez hammered a 87-mph cutter 365 feet over the left field wall to tie it 4-4. But the Padres answered right back. Gavin Sheets doubled to right. Samad Taylor singled up the middle. San Diego took the lead 4-5. Everything came down to the ninth inning. Chase Petty threw a fastball at 97 miles per hour. Fernando Tatis Jr. was ready. He swung and crushed it into the night sky. The ball rocketed 360 feet toward left field and landed on the other side of the wall. Home run! Game over! Tatis punched the air as he rounded the bases. The Padres won 5-4 and improved to 35-32. Cincinnati dropped to 32-35. What a game. What a finish.
