Rangers Strike Early: Texas Jumps Ahead
The Detroit Tigers came to Globe Life Field on Friday night looking to bounce back after a tough loss the night before. The Texas Rangers had other plans. Framber Valdez took the mound for Detroit and immediately ran into trouble. Elias Díaz crushed a fastball 414 feet over left-center field in the second inning to give Texas a 1-0 lead. The Rangers kept attacking. Josh Jung walked, and Ezequiel Duran drove him in with a sacrifice fly to right field. By the end of the second, Texas led 3-0. The Tigers couldn't find their rhythm early. Valdez gave up nine hits in five innings as the Rangers' bats woke up fast. Detroit's record dropped to 38-50 after this Friday loss at home against a hot Rangers team sitting at 45-43 on the season.
Tigers Wake Up: Lee and Keith Cut Into Lead
Detroit's bats finally came alive in the fifth inning. Colt Keith stepped up and smacked a cutter from Nathan Eovaldi 405 feet into right-center for a solo home run. That cut Texas's lead to 4-1. The Tigers kept swinging. Just two batters later, Hao-Yu Lee launched a curveball 383 feet to left-center with Zach McKinstry on base. Suddenly it was 5-3, Rangers. The momentum had shifted. Texas answered back in the sixth when Josh Smith launched a homer to right that sailed 406 feet. By the seventh inning, the Rangers extended their lead again. Alejandro Osuna singled to left, Nicky López singled to right, and Smith reached on an infield single, pushing three more runs across. The Rangers pulled away. Texas held a comfortable 9-3 lead heading into the final two innings of play.
Rangers Hold Strong: Texas Wins 10-4
Detroit tried to make one last push in the eighth inning. Ben Malgeri singled to center and scored on the play to make it 9-4. Then Evan Carter launched a mammoth 422-foot home run to center for Texas in the bottom of the eighth that sealed the deal. The ball rocketed deep into the Texas sky and landed in the bleachers. That made it 10-4, Rangers, and there was no coming back for Detroit. Nathan Eovaldi earned the win for Texas after pitching five strong innings with nine strikeouts. The Rangers improved to 45-43 on the season with this dominant victory. Detroit's record fell to 38-50 as they dropped their second straight game. The Tigers are missing key players like Gleyber Torres and Justin Verlander to injury, which has made scoring tough. Texas celebrated on their home field as the Tigers headed back to Detroit with work to do.
