Dodgers Strike First in Minnesota
The Los Angeles Dodgers rolled into Target Field looking to bounce back. They'd dropped their last two games and needed a win badly. The Twins were hot though, riding a two-game winning streak and feeling good at home. But the Dodgers had something special brewing. Shohei Ohtani stepped to the plate in the first inning against Zebby Matthews. The pitcher wound up and fired an 87-mile-per-hour changeup. Ohtani's bat whipped around and the ball exploded off his stick. It soared 414 feet over the right field wall. One-zero Dodgers. The Twins answered right back. Byron Buxton dug in against Will Klein. Klein threw a 98-mile-per-hour fastball, heating up the zone. Buxton connected and sent a screaming drive to left-center field. The ball traveled 394 feet and cleared the fence. The game was tied at one apiece before the first inning even ended.
Freeman Powers the Dodgers Ahead
The game stayed tied through the early innings. Both teams had chances but couldn't break through. Freddie Freeman waited for his moment at the plate. In the sixth inning, Freeman stepped into the batter's box. Zebby Matthews wound up and delivered a 91-mile-per-hour cutter. Freeman's eyes locked in on the pitch. His swing was smooth and powerful. The ball rocketed off his bat and soared toward center field. It carried 423 feet and cleared the fence with room to spare. That made it two-one Dodgers. The Twins couldn't catch up after that. Their bats stayed quiet. Eric Lauer was dealing for Los Angeles, throwing six scoreless innings. The Dodgers' pitching was sharp and their defense was solid behind him.
Dodgers Seal Victory in Minnesota
The Dodgers held their two-to-one lead as the game moved into the later innings. Tanner Scott came out of the bullpen to lock things down. He pitched a clean ninth inning and saved the game for Los Angeles. The final score was Dodgers two, Twins one. It was a tight game but the Dodgers' power and pitching won the day. Los Angeles improved to forty-nine wins and twenty-nine losses. The Dodgers are back on track. Minnesota fell to thirty-eight wins and forty-one losses. Kyle Tucker left the game early with back spasms, but the Dodgers had enough firepower to win without him. Ohtani and Freeman both went deep, and that was all they needed.
