Dodgers Strike Early in Minnesota
The Dodgers came to Target Field hungry for a win. They'd beaten the Twins 2-1 the night before, and now they wanted more. Los Angeles owned a 50-29 record and sat atop the AL West. Minnesota was struggling at 38-42, desperate to climb back into the race. Right from the start, the Dodgers' bats were alive. In the first inning, Tommy Edman singled to center, and Shohei Ohtani raced home for the quick 1-0 lead. The Twins answered back fast. Victor Caratini crushed a 95-mile-per-hour fastball over the left-center wall in the second inning. The ball disappeared into the Minnesota sky, tying the game at 1-1. Both teams were ready to battle.
Dodgers Explode with Five Runs in Fourth
The game stayed close until the fourth inning arrived. That's when everything changed for Los Angeles. Shohei Ohtani stepped up and launched a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Alex Call for a 3-2 lead. The floodgates opened. Freddie Freeman singled to center, bringing home Chuckie Robinson to make it 4-2. Mookie Betts followed with another single to center, and Pages scored easily to push it to 5-2. The Dodgers were relentless. Austin Voth couldn't find the strike zone, and Minnesota's defense was crumbling. By the end of the fourth, Los Angeles had completely taken over the game. The Twins were getting overwhelmed by the Dodgers' explosive offense and couldn't mount any comeback.
Dodgers Roll to Crushing 12-3 Victory
The ninth inning belonged completely to Los Angeles. Alex Call crushed a home run over the left field wall to make it 8-2. The hits kept coming. Miguel Rojas doubled to left, Andy Pages singled to right, and Max Muncy smashed a double down the line that scored two more runs. By the time the dust cleared, the Dodgers had added four more runs to blow the game wide open at 12-2. The Twins got one final run when Brooks Lee homered in the bottom of the ninth, but it barely mattered. Los Angeles walked away with a dominant 12-3 victory. The Dodgers improved to 51-29, staying strong in their championship quest. Minnesota dropped to 38-43, falling further back in the standings.
