Miami Arrives in Denver After Getting Crushed
The Marlins rolled into Coors Field in Denver still hurting from yesterday's blowout loss. Miami had gotten absolutely pounded 14-3 the night before, so they needed to bounce back fast. The Rockies were struggling too, sitting at 34-53 on the season. This game would be a chance for Colorado to grab a win at home. Max Meyer took the mound for Miami. He's been fantastic all yearâ9 wins and just one loss. The Rockies countered with Kyle Freeland, their veteran pitcher who knows how to keep things tight. Both teams were looking for redemption. The Marlins wanted to show yesterday was just a bad night. The Rockies wanted to prove they could compete. The final score would be Colorado 6, Miami 3. This game would come down to a few key swings and mistakes.
Moniak Swings Twice and the Rockies Build Early Trouble
In the bottom of the first inning, Mickey Moniak stepped up and absolutely crushed a fastball from Meyer. The ball rocketed 434 feet to center field and sailed over the wall. One swing and Colorado led 1-0. The Rockies had their early advantage, but Miami refused to back down. In the fourth inning, things got messy for Freeland. Javier Sanoja connected on a sinker and lined a triple into center field. Both Liam Hicks and Heriberto Hernandez scored on that one hit. Just like that, Miami took a 2-1 lead. But Moniak wasn't done. In the fifth inning, he came up again and tripled to right field. Kyle Karros and Ezequiel Tovar both raced home. Then Hunter Goodman followed with a massive home run to left centerâ403 feet. The Rockies suddenly led 5-2. Colorado's bats were waking up fast.
Miami Fights Back Late but Colorado Holds On for Victory
The seventh inning brought more dramatics. Joe Mack stepped up for Miami and crushed a fastball 424 feet into center field. One swing brought home a run and made it 5-3. The Rockies answered right back. Kyle Karros smashed a fastball from Tyler Zuber and sent it flying 440 feet to center. That made it 6-3 Colorado. Miami tried to scratch back but never got closer. The final score was Colorado 6, Miami 3. This win boosted the Rockies to 35-53 on the season. For Miami, the loss dropped them to 46-42. The Marlins had won seven of their last ten games, but this loss showed they still had work to do. Colorado's young coreâled by Moniak, Goodman, and Karrosâproved they could compete against quality teams.
