Game preview and final score
The Tigers hosted the Marlins at Comerica Park in Detroit on Saturday, April 11. Detroit wanted to win at home and Miami hoped to get back on track. The final score was Detroit 6, Miami 1, and the game tilted early toward Detroit. Both teams started with known pitchers: Casey Mize for Detroit and Janson Junk for Miami. Before the third inning, Detroit already led 2–0 after two first-inning runs. The crowd saw strong contact and good pitching, and that early lead set the tone. As a result, Detroit was able to build on momentum and control the game.
Early scoring and key hits
Detroit struck first in the bottom of the first inning with two quick runs. Keith doubled to left and McGonigle scored on that play, making it 1–0. Later in the inning, Greene singled to right and Keith scored, which made the score 2–0. Casey Mize and the Tigers' hitters used smart swings and timely hitting to build the lead early. Those first-inning plays forced Miami to chase the game. Although Miami got a run later, Detroit kept producing hits and pressure, so the Marlins could not catch up in the early stages of the contest.
Big moment, late runs, and outcome
The biggest moment came in the third inning when Greene blasted a three-run homer to right center. The ball soared 408 feet and scored McGonigle and Dingler while Greene crossed the plate, making it 5–0. Miami answered in the fourth when Norby hit a sacrifice fly scoring Hicks, which made it 5–1. Later, in the eighth, Torkelson singled home Greene to push the lead to 6–1. Detroit added that final run to seal the win. As a result, Detroit left with a 6–1 victory and Miami dropped to 8–7 on the season after the loss.
