Miami's Star Pitcher Shuts Down Pittsburgh Early
The Miami Marlins came to Pittsburgh with fire in their bellies. They were riding a five-game winning streak and felt unstoppable. The Pirates, though, wanted to prove they belonged in this fight. Sandy Alcantara took the mound for Miami, and boy, did he look sharp. His fastball blazed at 97 miles per hour. In the first inning, Pittsburgh's Endy Rodriguez ripped a single and scored on Jared Triolo's hit. The Pirates grabbed an early 1-0 lead and the home crowd roared. But Alcantara refused to back down. He struck out seven batters through eight innings and kept Pittsburgh's bats mostly quiet. This was the Alcantara that Miami needed—dominant, focused, unbeatable. The ace showed why he could carry a whole pitching staff on his shoulders. Miami knew their starter had given them a chance to win.
Marlins Explode in the Middle Innings with Power
Miami came alive in the fifth inning and never looked back. Otto Lopez grounded out, but Javier Sanoja scored to tie the game at 1-1. Then Kyle Stowers lashed a single to right field. Liam Hicks raced home with the go-ahead run. In the bottom of the fifth, Pittsburgh's Endy Rodriguez crushed a solo blast over right-center field—393 feet of pure power. That brought the Pirates back to 2-2. But Miami's bats were just getting started. In the seventh inning, the Marlins pounded Pittsburgh's relief pitchers. Xavier Edwards lifted a sacrifice fly. Heriberto Hernandez slapped a single. Owen Caissie doubled into center field, and suddenly two more runs scored. Miami led 6-2. The Marlins were rolling. Pittsburgh's pitchers couldn't find the strike zone or the strength to stop them.
Liam Hicks Powers Miami to a Commanding Victory
By the eighth inning, the Marlins were in total control. Liam Hicks stepped up and crushed a two-run homer to right field—356 feet of pure dominance. That pushed Miami's lead to 8-2. Hicks finished with three hits, including that blast, and two runs batted in. He was the star of the night. Pittsburgh tried to mount one last punch. Brandon Lowe smacked a solo home run to center field for 391 feet. It made the score 8-3, but it was far too late. The damage was done. Miami's pitching and timely hitting proved too much. The Marlins took the game 8-3 and improved to 35-34. Pittsburgh fell to 35-35. Miami's five-game winning streak stayed alive. The Marlins showed they could win away from home with great pitching and explosive bats. This victory meant everything for their playoff hopes moving forward.
