Mitchell's Blast Launches Brewers Early Lead
The Milwaukee Brewers walked into Arizona ready to hunt. They had just won their last game and were riding confidence into Chase Field. The Diamondbacks sat at 43-44, struggling to find their rhythm. Right from the start, the Brewers meant business. In the second inning, Garrett Mitchell stepped up against Jose Cabrera and launched a towering bomb toward center field. The ball rocketed 435 feet into the Arizona sky. Jake Bauers was already on base, so Mitchell's two-run shot made it 2-0 Brewers. One inning later, Brice Turang reached first and William Contreras moved to second. Jake Bauers came through with a single to right that scored Turang. Milwaukee led 3-0 and had the Diamondbacks on their heels.
Arizona Storms Back, Game Stays Close
Arizona wasn't ready to roll over. Kyle Harrison took the mound for Milwaukee, and the Diamondbacks quickly showed they could hit back. In the bottom of the third, Gabriel Moreno singled to right, and Ketel Marte raced home. The score tightened to 3-1. But Harrison's troubles weren't over. Nolan Arenado stepped up and crushed a double down the line. Corbin Carroll scored, Moreno scored, and suddenly it was tied at 3-3. The game had shifted. The Brewers built their lead, Arizona clawed back, and now both teams were deadlocked. You could feel the momentum swinging. Every pitch mattered. Both squads had proven they could produce runs when it counted.
Brewers Explode Late, Top Diamondbacks
The game stayed tight until the eleventh inning when the Brewers finally found their chance. Jackson Chourio hit an infield single to the pitcher. Blake Perkins and Cooper Pratt raced home on a throwing error by Arizona pitcher Ryan Thompson. The Brewers were suddenly up 5-3. But they weren't done. Brice Turang stepped up and singled to left field. Christian Yelich scored, Chourio scored, and Milwaukee led 7-3. The Diamondbacks got one back when Ildemaro Vargas singled in the eleventh, but it was too late. The Brewers won 7-4. Milwaukee improved to 54-32. Arizona dropped to 43-44. The Brewers showed why they're built to win close games down the stretch.
