Brewers beat Red Sox 8–6 in Boston
The Brewers traveled to Fenway Park to face the Red Sox on Monday, April 6. Milwaukee wanted a road win and Boston hoped to bounce back at home. The final score was 8–6 for the Brewers, after a back-and-forth game with many big moments. Brandon Woodruff started for Milwaukee and Brayan Bello started for Boston. The contest felt like a tug of war, with both teams scoring early and late, and the Brewers pulling ahead in key innings to win.
Early scoring and Boston advantage
Boston struck first in the bottom of the first inning on a Story single that scored Anthony. The hit came with two outs and a 0-2 count, showing clutch hitting under pressure. Later, in the third inning, the Red Sox added two more runs. Abreu grounded into a forceout that still scored a run, and Story hit a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 3–0. Those plays gave Boston an early edge, although the game was far from decided.
Brewers rally and the big fourth inning
Milwaukee turned the game in the top of the fourth inning with a four-run rally. First there was a fielding error that let Frelick score and set the inning in motion. Yelich reached on an infield single to score Hamilton and Mitchell followed with another infield single to tie the game. Then Bauers drew a bases-loaded walk that forced in the go-ahead run, giving Milwaukee a 4–3 lead. That rally felt decisive and shifted momentum toward the Brewers.
Late scoring and the finishing plays
Milwaukee tied the game again in the fifth when Turang grounded into a fielder's choice and Hamilton scored. In the eighth, Mitchell singled with two outs and two runners scored after a throwing error by Boston's left fielder, pushing the Brewers ahead 7–5. Frelick added an insurance single in the ninth to make it 8–5. Boston's Contreras hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth, but it only made the final score 8–6. Milwaukee improved to 8-2.
