Brewers travel to Colorado seeking another win
The Milwaukee Brewers rolled into Denver's Coors Field riding high. They had just won their last game and owned a sharp 38-23 record heading into Saturday. The Colorado Rockies, though, were struggling badly at 24-40. They'd lost their last two games and desperately needed a win at home. The Brewers had star power everywhere in their lineup. Jake Bauers, Sal Frelick, and Christian Yelich all came ready to hit. Colorado countered with Hunter Goodman's bat and hoped their pitching could hold up. The final score told the whole story: Milwaukee 9, Colorado 7. It was a wild ride with runs flying everywhere. Both teams kept swinging hard and refusing to quit.
Early runs set the tone for Saturday showdown
Play ball! Jake Bauers stepped up for Milwaukee in the second inning and ripped a single through the middle. His hit brought Brice Turang sliding home. Milwaukee led 1-0. Colorado answered back fast. In the bottom of the second, Edouard Julien smacked a single to left field. Ezequiel Tovar raced home. The score was tied 1-1. Then Hunter Goodman launched a monster. His home run shot over the left field wall and traveled 411 feet. The Rockies jumped ahead 3-1. The early innings were electric. Both offenses were clicking hard. Runners were scoring left and right. You could feel the energy building as both teams traded blows.
Brewers explode late to edge Rockies in thriller
The ninth inning was when Milwaukee's bats woke up completely. Jake Bauers singled and Sal Frelick doubled down the line. Andrew Vaughn came through with a huge single that scored two more runs. Milwaukee took the lead 5-3 and the crowd got quiet. Colorado refused to go away quietly. In the bottom of the ninth, Trevor Megill gave up a walk and Hunter Goodman hit a sacrifice fly. The Rockies scored and made it 5-4. But Milwaukee had more in the tank. In the tenth inning, Bauers doubled again and drove in two runs. Garrett Mitchell singled. Frelick singled. The Brewers scored four runs in the inning and won 9-7. Milwaukee improved to 39-23. Colorado stayed at 24-40. The Brewers' bats had the final say in this one.
