Twins Strike First After Rough Night
The Twins came to Chicago hungry for payback. They'd lost 3-1 the night before, so Tuesday felt like a chance to bounce back. The White Sox were waiting at their home stadium, hoping to stay hot. Joe Ryan took the mound for Minnesota, ready to spin dominance. In the top of the fourth, the Twins wasted no time attacking. Kody Clemens smacked a knuckle curve from Sean Burke and ripped a triple to right field. Trevor Larnach scored right behind him to make it 1-0. Austin Martin followed up with a single to center, and Clemens raced home. The Twins led 2-0 before the White Sox even blinked. Ryan's arm looked sharp early on as Minnesota grabbed control of this matchup.
Murakami Ties It Up with Power
Chicago needed to answer fast. The White Sox had a dangerous bat in Munetaka Murakami, and he was ready to swing. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Murakami stepped up against Joe Ryan. Ryan threw a sweeper that came in at 82 miles per hour. Murakami's eyes lit up. He connected and sent the ball soaring over the right field wall for a massive home run. Rikuu Nishida scored ahead of him, and suddenly it was 2-2. The game was tied, and the tension in the stadium cranked up. Ryan had been rolling, striking out nine batters through eight innings. But Murakami's blast proved he could hurt you in one swing. The battle was far from over.
Lee's Heroic Double Wins It Late
The game pushed into the eleventh inning, and both teams were running on fumes. That's when Brooks Lee stepped up to the plate against Tyler Davis. Lee worked the count, fouled off a four-seam fastball, then got a splitter he could handle. He ripped a double to right field, and the gate exploded open. Byron Buxton sprinted home. Luke Keaschall raced across. Two more runs poured in as the Twins took a 5-2 lead. The White Sox got one back in their half when Chase Meidroth singled and Murakami scored, making it 5-3. But that was all Chicago could manage. The Twins held on for the victory, improving to 28-28 and staying in the hunt. Minnesota's pitching depth came through when it mattered most.
