Chicago Takes Early Control
The Twins came to Chicago after losing 15-2 the night before. They needed to bounce back fast. But Davis Martin was sharp from the start for the White Sox. In the bottom of the first inning, Colson Montgomery smacked a single to center field. Miguel Vargas raced home. The White Sox led 1-0. Things got worse in the third inning. With two outs, Tristan Peters lined a single to shortstop. Munetaka Murakami scored on the play. Then Randal Grichuk crushed a double to right field. The ball zoomed past the defenders. Three runs scored on that hit. Suddenly, Chicago was up 5-0. Minnesota's pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson was getting hammered early.
Chicago Keeps Piling On Runs
The fourth inning brought more pain for Minnesota. Munetaka Murakami doubled to shortstop. Sam Antonacci scored on the hit. Chicago led 6-0 now. The White Sox had their bats absolutely rolling. Their pitcher Davis Martin looked untouchable on the mound. He threw six innings without giving up much at all. Minnesota finally answered in the fifth inning. Ryan Kreidler grounded out to shortstop, but Orlando Arcia raced home. The Twins got one run on the board. But it was way too little, way too late. The White Sox had too many runs already. Minnesota was looking at a blowout loss unless something magical happened fast.
Final Out: Chicago Wins Convincingly
The seventh inning brought Minnesota's only bright moment. Victor Caratini hit a sacrifice fly to center field. Josh Bell scored from third base. The Twins were on the board with their second run. But the White Sox had already built too big of a lead. Chicago cruised to victory 6-2. The final score didn't tell the whole story though. The White Sox dominated from start to finish. Their bats were hot and their pitcher was locked in. Minnesota fell to 27-30 on the season. Chicago improved to 29-27 with the win. The Twins had lost three straight games now. They would need to find their spark quickly to turn things around.
