Guardians Dominate Early Against Struggling Twins
On Friday night, the Twins traveled to Cleveland for a battle with the Guardians. Minnesota came in searching for answers after losing their last three games, while Cleveland rode high on a three-game winning streak. The Guardians wasted no time taking control, exploding for four runs in the first inning against Twins starter Connor Prielipp. A fielding error opened the door, followed by a sacrifice fly and a massive two-run home run by Bazzana that sailed 427 feet to center field. Cleveland's bats were on fire from the opening pitch. The Guardians built a quick 4-0 lead before the Twins could record a single run. Parker Messick kept Minnesota off the board early, putting Cleveland firmly in command. By the end of the night, Cleveland won 6-4, improving their record while Minnesota fell to 16-23.
Twins Climb Back With Home Run Heroics
Although Cleveland dominated early, Minnesota refused to quit without a fight. In the sixth inning, Jeffers singled to right field, scoring Martin and finally getting the Twins on the board. Down 4-1, the Twins mounted a serious comeback attempt in the seventh inning when Buxton crushed a two-run home run deep to left-center field, traveling 400 feet and cutting Cleveland's lead to just one run at 4-3. The ball exploded off his bat with tremendous force. Minnesota's offense suddenly came alive, giving their team genuine hope. However, Cleveland answered back in the bottom of the seventh when Ramírez singled to left, scoring Kwan and extending the Guardians' advantage to 5-3. The game became a tense back-and-forth battle as both teams traded momentum. Neither squad wanted to surrender, making every pitch and every swing critical to the outcome.
Guardians Close Out Victory in Ninth Inning
In the eighth inning, Cleveland added another run when Hedges reached on an infield single to second base, scoring Bazzana and extending the lead to 6-3. The Guardians' pitchers tightened up their defense, keeping Minnesota at bay. When the ninth inning arrived, the Twins made one final push for a comeback. Buxton managed to score on a double play, making it 6-4, but it was too little too late. Cleveland held firm and secured the victory with a final score of 6-4. The win extended the Guardians' winning streak to three games while dropping the Twins to 16-23 on the season. Despite Minnesota's second-half heroics with home runs, Cleveland's early offensive explosion proved decisive. The Guardians' balanced pitching staff and timely hitting delivered the win on Friday night.
