Tigers Strike Early, Twins Never Answer Back
The Twins came to Detroit still hurting from Wednesday's loss. Minnesota fell 10-4 the night before and needed to bounce back fast. But this night belonged to the Tigers. In the first inning, Riley Greene stepped up with two outs. The ball came in at 85 miles per hour, and Greene swung hard. He lifted a sacrifice fly to center field. Kevin McGonigle raced home. Detroit led 1-0 before the Twins could even blink. Minnesota's pitcher Zebby Matthews looked shaky right away. The Tigers smelled blood in the water. You could feel the momentum shifting already. Detroit's bats were hungry, and they were just getting started.
The Tigers Keep Pounding, Tigers Lead 11-0
Things got worse for Minnesota in the fourth inning. Colt Keith ripped a single to right field, and Dillon Dingler scored. The score jumped to 2-0. Then Spencer Torkelson stepped up. The pitch came in at 78 miles per hour, and Torkelson crushed it. The ball rocketed to left field for a two-run homer. Now it was 4-0. One inning later, Gleyber Torres launched a fastball over the right field wall at 93 miles per hour. That made it 5-0. In the sixth, Keith came back up and absolutely crushed one over right-center field for a 419-foot bomb. Carpenter scored too. It was 7-0. The Tigers were rolling now.
Detroit's Bats Keep Flying, Game Gets Out of Hand
The seventh inning brought more damage. Riley Greene came up and launched a fastball over the left field wall. The score ballooned to 8-0. Then in the eighth, things became a blowout. Zach McKinstry stepped in and hammered a home run to right field. The Tigers were now up 9-0. Wenceel Perez wasn't done yet. He crushed the next pitch for a massive 401-foot shot to left-center. Jake Rogers scored, and it was 11-0. The game was completely over. Keider Montero pitched 6 and one-third innings for Detroit, giving up only four hits and no runs. The Twins managed just five hits total. Minnesota's record dropped to 31-39. Detroit improved to 29-40 with a huge victory.
