Sal Stewart stepped up in the first inning and turned on a fastball. The ball rocketed over the left field wall 410 feet deep. Blake Dunn and JJ Bleday scored ahead of him. Cincinnati led 3-0 before most fans finished their hot dogs. Spencer Steer wasn't done either. Two outs later, he launched another bomb to left center. The ball flew 392 feet. The Reds were up 4-0. New York's pitcher struggled with control. Senga walked four batters in just four innings. He gave up four runs. The Reds' bats were on fire early.
Mets Strike Back, Reds Pull Away Late
New York finally got on the board in the third inning. Bo Bichette singled to center with two outs. MJ Melendez scored the Mets' first run. Cincinnati still led 4-1.
