Dodgers' Four Homers Dominate Phillies Pitching
The Los Angeles Dodgers crushed the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2 at Dodger Stadium on Saturday night. The Phillies arrived in LA riding a one-game losing streak, hungry to bounce back. But the Dodgers' lineup came swinging hard right from the start. Their batters connected on four different home runs that sent the crowd roaring. Zack Wheeler, Philadelphia's ace, threw six innings but couldn't escape the power barrage. The Dodgers' starsâFreddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Shohei Ohtani, and Will Smithâeach launched one deep. By game's end, Los Angeles improved to 37-20 while Philly fell to 29-28. The Phillies' pitching staff, known as one of baseball's best, couldn't shut down the explosive Dodgers bats on this night.
Four Homers in Four Innings Pile Up the Score
The Dodgers wasted no time. In the first inning, Freddie Freeman stepped up and crushed one over the wall to left fieldâ365 feet of pure power. The crowd erupted. Then Max Muncy came through in the second, launching a rocket to right-center field that traveled 396 feet. One inning later, superstar Shohei Ohtani connected on a splitter and sent it flying 374 feet to right. By the fifth inning, catcher Will Smith added his own blast to right-centerâ388 feet of thunder. Four different Dodgers had gone deep. Wheeler's fastballs kept getting hit hard. His velocity sat around 93-95 mph, but the Dodgers' bats were ready. The Dodgers had built a commanding 4-0 lead before Philadelphia could even score.
Phillies Score Late But Fall Short of Comeback
Philadelphia's bats finally woke up in the sixth inning when Kyle Schwarber connected. He crushed one to center fieldâ411 feet of power that gave the Phillies their first run. The Dodgers led 4-1. Then in the eighth, Brandon Marsh scored on a single by Steward Berroa through the middle. The Phillies got their second run and trailed 4-2. But that was all Philadelphia could manage. Justin Wrobleski pitched brilliantly for Los Angeles, allowing just one hit over seven innings while striking out nine batters. The Dodgers' bullpen shut the door. Tanner Scott came in for the save. The final score stayed 4-2 Dodgers. Los Angeles improved to 37-20 and stayed hot with six straight wins. Philadelphia dropped to 29-28. The Dodgers' explosive bats and strong pitching proved too much.
