Dodgers Make Quick Statement at Home
The Phillies rolled into Los Angeles looking to bounce back. They'd lost the night before, falling 4-2 to these same Dodgers. But the home team had other plans. Yoshinobu Yamamoto took the mound and was absolutely locked in. The Dodgers' ace threw 5.1 innings and didn't allow a single run. He struck out 10 batters with a devastating fastball that hit 98 mph. The Phillies' starter Andrew Painter couldn't match that energy. By the end, Los Angeles dominated 9-1. You could feel it from the first pitch—this was going to be a long day for Philadelphia's offense.
Early Dodgers Scoring Takes Command
Los Angeles came out swinging in the second inning. Alex Freeland stepped up and smacked a double into center field off an 87 mph slider. That's how the Dodgers got rolling. Freeman then singled to right, bringing another run across. Then came the fourth inning—complete chaos for the Phillies. Ryan Ward crushed a home run to right field. It rocketed 400 feet into the bleachers. Freeland stepped up again and launched another one, this time 344 feet. The crowd went wild. Alex Call added a two-run single in the fifth. By the sixth inning, the Dodgers had already scored seven runs. Painter was done. Max Muncy kept piling it on with a massive two-run homer in the seventh.
Dodgers Cruise to Dominant Victory
The eighth inning brought more heartbreak for Philadelphia. Freddie Freeman's sacrifice fly scored another run. That made it 9-0. The Dodgers were absolutely unstoppable. Their lineup had done the job early and kept piling on. Painter struggled through 3.1 innings before getting pulled. The Phillies bullpen couldn't stop the bleeding either. In the ninth inning, Bryson Stott finally got one for Philadelphia. He launched a solo home run 400 feet to center field. It was the only run the Phillies could manage. Final score: Dodgers 9, Phillies 1. Los Angeles improved to 38-21 with the win. Philadelphia fell to 30-29 and headed home winless in this series.
