Phillies Hunt for Revenge After Shutout Loss
The Phillies rolled into Milwaukee looking to bounce back hard. They lost 6-0 the night before, so this game mattered. The Brewers were hot at home, sitting 42-25 while Philly needed wins badly at 37-32. American Family Field was the stage for a slugfest nobody expected. You could feel the energy shift from the opening pitch. Both teams came ready to swing. Shane Drohan took the mound for Milwaukee against a Phillies lineup hungry for runs. Aaron Nola started for Philly and faced a Brewers team that had just dominated them. This wasn't going to be another quiet night. Edmundo Sosa stepped in early and launched a fastball over the wall in the second inning. The ball rocketed 375 feet into right-center field. Just like that, Philadelphia led 1-0 and the bats were alive.
Realmuto's Power Carries Philly to 7-3 Lead
By the fourth inning, things got wild. Bryson Stott smacked a double to right field. Brandon Marsh raced home. Then J.T. Realmuto stepped up with runners in scoring position. He crushed a fastball that sailed 416 feet to left-center. The crowd groaned as three runners crossed home plate. Philly was up 3-0 and feeling dangerous. Milwaukee answered back when Aaron Nola threw a knuckle curve that Jackson Chourio absolutely demolished over center field 425 feet away. The Brewers cut it to 3-2. But Philly wasn't done. In the sixth, Stott doubled again. Realmuto came through with another monster blast, another 416-footer that scored two more. Then Bryce Harper added a sacrifice fly. Suddenly it was 8-3 Phillies and the bats were singing.
Brewers Rally Late but Fall Short 9-8
The Brewers weren't giving up. Jackson Chourio kept swinging the bat like a star. In the seventh, he crushed another home run over center field. Yelich added a sacrifice fly in the eighth. A wild pitch by Brad Keller let one more run score. Milwaukee was clawing back, trailing just 9-8. The Brewers loaded the bases and had chances to win. But the Phillies held on. Jhoan Duran came in for the save and shut the door. When it ended, the scoreboard read 9-8 Philadelphia. The Phillies improve to 38-32 with a huge road win. Milwaukee falls to 42-26 but stays in contention. This was baseball at its best: two teams trading blows until the final out.
