The game exploded in the second inning. Justin Crawford reached on an error, and Trea Turner launched a 372-foot missile that sailed over the left-field wall. Three runs scored. The Phillies jumped out 0-5. Pirates pitcher Skenes was in trouble early. Pittsburgh fired back in the third. Henry Davis smashed a solo home run 379 feet to left-center field. That made it 1-5. The Pirates kept fighting. In the fifth inning, Nick Gonzales singled to center, scoring one run. Jared Triolo was hit by a pitch and another run scored. Suddenly it was 3-8. Pittsburgh was still alive. By the seventh inning, Triolo doubled to left field. Two more runs scored on the hit. Now it was 6-8—the Pirates were just two runs behind. The Phillies' bullpen held firm. In the eighth, Dennis Santana threw for Pittsburgh, but Alec Bohm smashed a 419-foot home run to center. Brandon Marsh scored too. That made it 6-10. The Phillies had just enough. Final score: 10-6. Philadelphia improved to 48-38 with the win. Pittsburgh fell to 43-44.
