Padres Dominate in San Francisco with Explosive Fourth Inning
The San Diego Padres visited San Francisco on Wednesday, May 6, ready to build on their winning streak. The Giants had actually beaten the Padres the day before with a dramatic ninth-inning home run, but this game would tell a completely different story. Walker Buehler started for San Diego while Logan Webb took the mound for the Giants. The Padres came out swinging and ultimately dominated with a 10-5 victory. Early scoring set the tone, but the real fireworks came when San Diego's lineup exploded in the fourth inning. Multiple hits and smart base-running put the Padres in control. By the final out, San Diego had collected 14 hits and made zero errors, showcasing excellent offensive execution throughout the night.
Giants Start Strong but Cannot Keep Pace
San Francisco came out aggressively in the bottom of the first inning. Schmitt crushed a home run 386 feet over the left field wall, with Lee scoring ahead of him to give the Giants an early 2-0 lead. The crowd at the stadium must have been energized by that start. However, the Padres answered back quickly in the second inning when Xander Bogaerts smashed a home run 391 feet to left-center field, closing the gap to 2-1. The Giants added another run in the second when J. RodrĂguez singled and Adames scored. Meanwhile, a fielder's choice brought Gilbert home as well, pushing the Giants to a 4-1 advantage. This appeared to be San Francisco's chance to build a commanding lead, yet the Padres had other plans.
Padres Unleash Fourth Inning Explosion for Victory
The fourth inning became the turning point of the entire game. The Padres loaded the bases and unleashed one of the most explosive offensive displays of the night. Bogaerts hit a groundout that scored Sheets to make it 4-2. Then Castellanos singled sharply to center, scoring Tatis Jr. to cut the deficit further. However, the real damage came when Song launched a double to center field that traveled 374 feet. On this play, Campusano and Castellanos both scored as Adames made a throwing error, giving the Padres two more runs. Merrill followed with a single that scored Song, putting San Diego ahead 6-4. In the fifth inning, Castellanos added a sacrifice fly, and Andujar singled in the sixth to extend San Diego's lead. The Padres' resilience after falling behind early proved decisive in securing their dominant victory.
