France and Sheets Ignite San Diego Early
The Padres came to Globe Life Field hungry after dropping Friday's game. You could feel the energy in the first inning when Ty France stepped up to face Jacob deGrom. The Rangers' ace threw a 98-mile-per-hour fastball right down the middle, and France crushed it. The ball screamed over the right field wall 363 feet away. Three runners scored on that blast. But Texas fired back fast. Nimmo doubled to center. Then Osuna ripped a double down the right line that scored two more. Burger added another double. Suddenly it was 5-5 after just one inning. The bats were heating up on both sides.
France Homers Again as Runs Keep Piling Up
By the fourth inning, France was already a hero. DeGrom threw an 89-mile-per-hour slider, and France connected again. This one went deep to center field, 409 feet of pure distance. The ball sailed over the wall and France trotted around the bases. San Diego now led 6-5. But the Rangers would not quit. Langford doubled down the middle in the bottom of the fourth and scored when he tried to stretch it into a triple. Texas took a 6-6 lead. Then in the sixth, Duran singled to center and scored another run, giving Texas 6-8. The game felt like it could go either way. Both teams showed they had plenty of fight left.
Sheets' Late Blast Falls Short of Tying It
The eighth inning brought drama. Gavin Sheets stepped in against Jakob Junis and launched a sweeper 391 feet over the right field wall. One swing brought the Padres back to life. San Diego trailed 7-8 now. The crowd held its breath. But Jason Adam took the mound for Texas, and Wyatt Langford got his chance. The Rangers' young star crushed a fastball 430 feet into left center. That home run sealed it. Texas won 9-7. The Rangers improved to 37-39. San Diego fell to 38-37. Both teams showed incredible offensive power today, but Texas had just enough at the end. Randy Vasquez took the loss for the Padres.
