Cole Young homers first for Seattle Mariners
The Mariners walked into Camden Yards looking to bounce back. Seattle had lost the night before, falling 7-2 to the Orioles. Now they faced Baltimore again in a series that had them struggling. Bryan Woo took the mound for Seattle. Kyle Bradish pitched for the home team. The game started fast. Cole Young stepped up in the first inning and crushed a 85-mph curveball from Bradish into right-center field. The ball sailed over the wall 364 feet away. One-nothing Mariners. The crowd went quiet for a moment. Then Baltimore answered back hard. Colton Cowser hammered a 95-mph fastball from Woo deep to left-center. That ball flew 416 feet. Game tied 1-1. The Orioles were not backing down.
Baltimore explodes for four runs in third inning
The third inning turned into chaos for Seattle. Cowser's homer was just the start. A wild pitch from Woo let Jackson Holliday score. Two more runners moved into scoring position. Then Adley Rutschman doubled to right field. Two runs scored on that hit. Baltimore was rolling now. Pete Alonso stepped in next. He looked hungry. The first baseman crushed a 439-foot blast to left-center. The ball traveled so far it landed in the upper deck. Two more runs scored. Just like that, Baltimore led 7-1. The Orioles' bats were singing. Seattle's pitching staff was falling apart. Woo was getting hit hard. The Mariners needed to answer fast or this game would slip away.
Seattle fights back but cannot catch Baltimore
Seattle refused to quit. In the fourth inning, Luke Raley hit a 388-foot home run to right field. Arozarena scored too. Canzone followed with a 401-foot blast to right-center. Julio Rodriguez singled to right, bringing Colt Emerson home. The Mariners scored four runs in the fourth. They cut the lead to 7-5. The momentum had shifted. Woo's struggles continued though. In the fifth, Rutschman singled to left, and Taylor Ward scored. Baltimore led 8-5. The Orioles' bullpen took over from there. Tyler Wells shut down Seattle's bats. The game stayed tight but Baltimore held on. Final score: Orioles 7, Mariners 5. Baltimore improved to 33-37. Seattle fell to 36-34 after the loss.
